Pilates Mat, Strength, and Yoga

Participating in a Group Exercise class is one of the most enjoyable and effective ways to get fit! All fitness levels are welcome. Various intensity levels are shown for every exercise. Class sizes are 3-10 people so you’ll always receive plenty of personal attention and instruction. There is no hiding in the back of our classes!

Our setting is positive and nurturing, no matter what your fitness level. Our goal is to build your confidence and allow you to challenge yourself safely. The small studio setting encourages you to be consistent, and the group atmosphere holds you accountable in a positive way. Yes, we do notice when you miss class!

Strength Training 

A 60-min total body strength workout using various dumbbell, body bar, resistance band, medicine ball, TRX, BOSU ball, kettle bell and body weight exercises to strengthen every muscle group. Circuits and tabatas are also incorporated into this strength class. This functional class allows you to train all movement patterns, and is a fun, challenging way to improve your fitness level. All ages and fitness levels are welcome; progressions and regressions are shown for each exercise.

Pilates Mat 

Pilates mat work is the basis for the entire system of exercises. Mat workouts embrace flow more so than apparatus workouts, including those on the universal reformer. On the mat, your body weight provides resistance against gravity, making the workout more challenging in many cases. You must be in full control of your body, rather than relying on the assistance or support of the springs and cables of an apparatus. This class includes Mat exercises using props such as circle rings, balls, and bands to challenge you.

NOTE: All new Pilates clients are required to attend one private Pilates assessment with before attending Mat class. Fee $65

Class size limited to 10 students  We encourage you to exercise consistently. It is your responsibility to come to class!

I started attending Barb Mendoza's strength class once per week just 4 months ago. I also decided to train for another marathon near that time. As a woman in my 50's, I found the strength class to significantly develop my core and overall strength and I believe this really helped me throughout the marathon and, in particular, in the last 6 miles. Just loved the work with stretch bands, as did others. It was a hard class, harder than usual, which I think we all want. And as older ladies we all have problems with opening up our hip flexors and staying limber. I think we need to all sweat a little bit more too! – Kathy
